Our School

I am incredibly proud to be the headteacher of Derry Hill CofE VA Primary School and hope that the information on this website gives you a small insight into some of the wonderful things we do here.

Children are at the heart of everything we do at Derry Hill.  It is a place where children feel safe, happy and secure and where individuality is celebrated and strengths are recognised, encouraged and developed.  We believe in creating an inclusive, caring ethos, strengthened by our core Christian values, where all children have equal opportunity to flourish and reach their full potential.

We offer a rich, broad and balanced curriculum, which builds on children’s prior knowledge and expertise, continually moving their learning forward whilst bringing a sense of excitement and wonder. Our extensive wider curriculum opportunities include our on-site forest school, engagement in sport competitions, mindfulness, music lessons, after school clubs and strong links with Christ Church and our village community.

Here at Derry Hill, we celebrate success at every opportunity, recognising the positive contributions our children make and encouraging them to become life-long learners.  We strive to fulfil not just their academic potential but their personal, social, moral and creative development building their confidence, self-esteem and resilience as future citizens.

If you would like to find out more, we welcome visits from new families throughout the year where we can give you a tour and answer any questions. Visits can be booked through the school office on 01249 812139.  We look forward to meeting you.
